Benefits finder makes it easy to find your state’s unemployment website.

To apply for unemployment, you must:

  • Have your Social Security Number or Alien Identifier Number.
  • Have a mailing address.
  • Prepare all employers you worked for during the last 18 months. This includes the first and last dates you worked for each company.
  • Find your IRS statements from 2017, 2018, and 2019 to estimate your average pay per employer.

Once you have applied, a response could take a few weeks. There may be additional steps to receive benefits. You may also get a notice in the mail if you don’t qualify.

What if You Don’t Qualify for Unemployment?

While you may not qualify for unemployment benefits, you still have options! An unprecedented stimulus bill passed this past week. It’s designed to provide relief to Americans during the coronavirus pandemic. The $2 trillion stimulus package provides relief to most businesses, individuals and families.

Part of the relief effort involves sending payments directly to American families.
